Description

A standardized approach within the supply chain for the release of the production process and the product minimizes risks and losses at the interfaces between supplier and customer through partnership-based cooperation.

This 6th edition from 2020 improves alignment with the PPA procedure so that the organization and the customer can jointly define the scope, content, and schedule of the procedure in a simpler manner.

The elimination of conformity assurance levels (PSW in the PPAP procedure) has now been implemented in order to better adapt the procedure to customer differences with regard to individual expectations, product variability, and the diversity of documentation.

Based on previous experience, the procedure now focuses to a greater extent on the organization’s own responsibility to ensure that all required documentation is prepared. In addition, the number and scope of documents can be reduced when the organization performs a self-assessment of the product and the production process.

Further important changes in this edition include modifications to the approval steps and the way software is integrated into the procedure, as well as the closer alignment of the PPA procedure’s verification methods with the corresponding verifications according to the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
