THINK TANK FOR THE 2ND EDITION OF IATF 16949
Around mid-2027, a new (2nd) edition of IATF 16949 is expected to be presented
We are five people in the company with extensive experience working with requirements in the automotive industry through audits, training, and consulting. We also believe that the content of the new edition can, with a fairly high degree of probability, be anticipated based on, among other things, the following logical grounds:
- How have vehicles on public roads evolved since the previous edition of IATF 16949:2016?
- What has happened in terms of technological development?
- Which laws and other requirements have changed since 2016?
- What are the major issues that have been identified during audits?
- How have consumer requirements changed since 2016?
- Which (new) methods has the automotive industry “invested in” in recent years (e.g., AIAG&VDA FMEA)?
The automotive industry’s requirements are based on the logical conditions the industry is exposed to, such as mass/series production. We cannot predict exactly what the requirements will be, but we can be mentally prepared and thus better prepared for the solutions that will be “required”. You can do that too, even if you are not currently in, or close to, the automotive industry.
